HISTORY OF THE CRAWLEY RIDE | |
|
In the spring of 1991, Bob Crawley ( cousin of Richard ) went to Richards sister to discuss having a trail ride to benefit St. Judes Children Hospital in Memphis, Tn . This event was scheduled for September of 1991. It was held at Gumdale in the Mt. Carmel Community. This ride and dance raised $1206.95. After talking with others and volunteers we decided to make this an annual event. The second year the event was held at the Old Furnace also in the Mt. Carmel Community. This ride raised $880.00. When the planning came for the third year, it was discussed to move the ride to Natchez Trace State Park located in Henderson County Tennessee. The Third year raised $2157.00. The ride is growing more and more each year. The ride raised an unbelievable amount of $45000.00 in October of 2000. This brings the grand total of our 10 year history too $176000.00.
We are looking forward to many more year of giving to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. This will not be possible without your continued support and donations. We would like to take this time to thank everyone that rides or has any thing to do with the Richard Crawley Trail Ride. Without you none of this would have been possible! |
