HISTORY OF THE CRAWLEY RIDE | |
|
In the spring of 1991, Bob Crawley ( cousin of Richard ) went to Richards sister, Debra & Jennifer, to discuss having a trail ride to benefit St. Jude Children Hospital in Memphis, Tn . Because of Richard's love for horses and children, friends and family were inspired to start the RICHARD CRAWLEY MEMORIAL TRAIL RIDE in September, 19911 at Gumdale in the Mt. Caramel community in Decatur County, TN. The one day ride raised $1,206.95. The second ride was held at the "Old Furnace" in the Mt' Caramel community and $880.00 was raised. As the ride continued to grow, the 3rd annual trail ride was moved to Natchez Trace State Park Wrangler Camp located in Wiildersville, TN. That year a total of $2,157.00 was raised. In October 2000 an unbelievable amount of $45,000.00 was raised. In the past 17 years, YOU have helped raise over $370,000.00 for the children at St. Jude!! We hope to continue making a difference in children's lives just as Richard did in ours.
We are looking forward to many more years of giving to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Our thanks go out to the many businesses, volunteers, individuals, trail riders, members and sponsors.
Without you none of this would have been possible! RICHARD CRAWLEY MEMORIAL TRAIL RIDE
